  • TKM announces high-grade gold assays up to 27.95g/t at Christmas Creek
  • Results received so far from just one of four priority targets at the project
  • Diamond drilling underway and more RC drilling planned

Special Report: Trek Metals says initial RC drilling at the Martin prospect within its extensive Christmas Creek gold project in WA has returned multiple high-grade hits.

The company picked up the project from Newmont back in 2023 and, after securing more tenements, kicked off exploration at the district-scale greenfields gold and rare earths project.

Trek Metals’ (ASX:TKM) exploration focus is on four undercover prospects, with the initial campaign targeting the Martin prospect, which delivered standout intercepts last year of 10m at 12.66g/t gold from 59m and 10m at 7.34g/t gold.

Assays from the first five RC drill holes this year included:

  • 4m at 14.18g/t gold from 43m, including 2m at 27.95g/t gold
  • 3m at 6.17g/t gold from 94m, including 2m at 9.20g/t gold; and
  • 3m at 2.15g/t gold from 78m.

The initial drilling has successfully extended the zone of high-grade mineralisation intersected last year, with four of the five initial step-out holes intersecting gold, confirming the prospect’s potential.

Diamond drilling has also now commenced at Martin, with Trek targeting the RC intercepts to obtain detailed structural information on the orientation and controls on the mineralisation, to assist with optimising follow-up drilling.

High potential for major discovery

RC drilling is ongoing at the project, with upcoming targets including the Turner, Zahn and Coogan-Brockhurst prospects.

“Intersecting significant high-grade gold mineralisation in four out of the first five RC holes gives us confidence we are in (a) fertile environment with the potential to host significant gold mineralisation,” Trek CEO Derek Marshall said.

“The early data from the drilling shows that there are two dominant mineralised trends, and potentially two distinct styles of mineralisation at Martin – one oriented NE-SW and the other SE-NW, respectively extending over ~1km and ~1.5km.

“While it’s still early days in the exploration process, this shows that the potential for a major new gold orogenic discovery is high.

“We just need to do more work to understand the orientation, controls and broader context of the mineralisation.”

The RC rig will start at the Turner prospect, before moving to other targets.

“We are also excited to test some of the other high-priority prospects at Christmas Creek such as Zahn and Coogan-Brockhurst,” Marshall said.

“This is an exciting time for Trek as our drilling gains momentum and we work to uncover the potential for a large orogenic gold discovery in the Kimberley.”
